... My hubby was sent a video talking about how science comes from books "just like the bible is a book" and how science is a religion. I love when people think measurable real world observations equate to a story. Like Mcgraw and Hill came down from the mountain with tablets that said E=MC2 and that an object in motion stays in motion.. and that was the word and it was good.

So im watching this video and tearing it apart and it dawns on me further details into the problems with believing that science is just a thought experiment.

How did that computer get there they just used to get on the internet?
How about that video camera?

All things you touch every day in every activity are built using the principles of science. Science describes. it does not create. It shows us the ways things work so that we can manipulate them. Its a language.
All the technology and everything you know from the webcam you use to the toothpaste you brush your teeth with in the morning was constructed with the knowledge we gained from scientific study. The soles of your shoes are based on science, a working knowledge of the real world.

And for fucks sake, we walked on the moon. We shot a monkey into space. We just transported quantum information without a loss of data and there are still people who think we cant date fucking rocks. There are people i know who believe god created the earth in 6 days but accept that science saves their lives through necessary medications. Ahhh so science cant uncover evolutionary facts, but it can lower your blood pressure with an intricate understanding of human biology.....

We shot a monkey into space people! i fail to see how anyone can say there is no way we can measure the age of the earth or fossil records when we can observe the effin quantum. or shoot primates into space.

With those outta the way i have to at least mention it, cause i consider this stuff to be a big freakin deal as i care about the world and politics and foreign and domestic policy.

I think what they do is vital and its sad elected officials wanna go down as being the people to claim government secrets should remain secret and whistle blowers and those who release their info are terrorist. I spent the morning writing to several officials and the whitehouse on my disgust at the backlash of the releases of wikileaks. The irony of hilary clintons call for a free internet,the laughable freedom of press day, and my grave disappointment in obama's administration.

Dont get me wrong, this is still a complicated issue, i believe there exists information that should be protected from public eye, but very little and only for the time necessary. such as covert ops, war strategies, etc. But i believe the american public can handle serious issues if we let them. But when people who claim to be speaking for us, havent even given the public the chance to address the issues and actions they take, well thats not representative at all.

On another note, dear free market proponents, im now closer to your side. In my searching ive found examples of economies that thrive and innovate with seemly little or reasonably expected corruption while promoting ease of business, a flat tax, and high levels of privatization. ( Germany, finnland, estonia in particular)Ive been drawn in by the Free market based economy.

So my political leanings are now closer to the nordic model of government funds being used for an extensive welfare system, low military expenditure and a free market-based economy.
I have yet to find a country who thrives with both a free market based economy and NO universal or nationally backed healthcare system. It appears to me the combination of freer markets for business and a well backed safety net for the population makes for a more stable and productive society.
Again, nothing ive found i would consider perfect, and each country i looked at still differed but overall seemed to prosper with low poverty rates and high innovation and industry. Finnland has a widening gap between the middle class and the upperclass and estonia has very high unemployment. So again, tough issues, complicated issues, and the answers im sue vary by culture and circumstance, but i continue to research and refine my world and political view.

So yeah, i sell random crap on ebay sometimes. Since ya know, when im not working a real job, im selling art, or working for a small consulting firm. So pretty much 80% of my waking hours is spent trying to make money.
And its inevitable. Someone bids on item, gets buyers remorse and just wants money back to hear its not their fault for NOT READING THE DESCRIPTION OR MY RETURN POLICIES

and so i give my super professional response and say i take returns for any reason, assign no blame and suggest tracking as to prove i recieved the items for a refund. Of course they went for a whole 4 bucks and international. So it takes them a minute to realize- returning it would cost more than they spent.

I was looking for lightboxes on ebay and took that into consideration for all the ones i looked at. "well if it doesnt work, and they only refund purchase price, id just be out the money since shipping is so expensive...."

So a one liner, is more a threat to gay rights, than say.. politicians who vote to keep gays away from equality, who want to force service members to hide their personal lives and risk loosing their job and service if found out. Its more threatening than many organized religions who condemn your lifestyle, and tell you you'll burn in hell for all eternity for being an abomination.

Saying a prius is gay never made someone go vote for the defense of marriage act. it never made someone attack another human being. What does is the underlying culture that connects a simple joke with a deeper resentment, with an intolerant crowd. Thats why gay people get to make gay jokes and black people get to use the N word. Cause its in a group "usually" where its known its either bringing attention to it, or in a group of people who dont mean it with hate.
Theres nothing wrong with the joke, the problem is the underlying culture that it reflects.

Now ona personal level, i think he made the wrong choice. but on a larger level... its a company. Its a product, and as a person with asthma, those people should of called an ambulance, not ran to CVS.
as a person with asthma, i try to have my inhaler on me at ALL times. And things happen, etc, so go the fucking ER. Ive been there, a few times for my asthma, but the last thing i would do in an emergency, is go to CVS. Have some sense, the man offered to call an ambulance. its not his job to give you your medicine for free.
now there are bits floating around about the bigger implications reflecting on how callous we are.. about universal healthcare..
nope. its not about that. You're still responsible for carrying your own medication and making good decisions like going to the ER, not CVS. And its still not CVS's job to give you what you cant pay for.

Should we shit where we eat? no i say. But lets face it, we're animals. Maybe last time mr. cameron picked up a biology book he missed the part where we're mammals, who still fight for territory and resources. This idea we're the only species who destroys habitats is bull, (please see rabbits, deer, locusts, beavers, etc), or wages war (ants) or enslaves (ants again) or kills for anything other than food. (dolphins) Or that progress is bad.
related but from a difference source i saw someone get schooled on a doll forum im on arguing the ethics of real fur. Where someone pointed out synthetics dont magically appear. They are plastics produced in factories that add to the pollution of our planet. There is a footprint from that too.
Do no harm is nice and all but its not realistic. Everything has a price. While you may prefer one price over the other lets not all sit and pretend there is no impact from what we do.
Its like the people who would want to see all organic farming. Thats nice but its not sustainable for our population. Technology aids in crop production. Genetic modification produces stronger crops and so does selective breeding and domestication. It allows more food to go to more people. more grains to go as aid to impoverished countries.
Its a feel good idealology. Which is why i never bothered to watch Avatar. The second i heard its the grown up ferngully i opted out. I dont need any more "omg humans bad.. nature is so nice and sweet" crap. Apparently these people never watched the discovery channel. Nature is just as brutal and beautiful as we are.
Dont get wrong.. im not "scorch the earth" and all but romanticizing the "natural" world v demonizing people aint exactly productive either.

My birthday was nice.
I turned 27 a week or two ago.
Me and the hubby went to PF Chang's and ate way to much food, drank some good plum wine.
We discussed our love of True Blood on HBO and the hottest characters on it.
Who are of course: Lafayette, Pam, Jessica and Eric. In that order.
I bought myself another doll. I loves hims. 5 years later my first BJD doll gets a buddy. God i love those bastards. Ill spam ya'll with pictures of my purdy boy soon.
We think we've figured out whats wrong with my head. The dizzy spells ive probably never posted about. Well i get dizzy spells. A lot. Mostly it makes me feel drunk, sometimes shit actually psins. Went to the doctor, and then went on the internet.. which seems to be more fruitfull.. and we're pretty sure i have benign paryoxmialsomthing positional vertigo.
Its a bitch. Its added onto my list of medical conditions. Apparently when the room spins on me my eyes twitch a certain way which is like a tell tale sign of BPPV so after 6 years or so of not knowing whats up we're pretty sure thats whats going on. I got a follow up appt coming up to confirm.
I may be making manager at work soon. Which is pretty awesome, since its salary + benefits. that would be awesome.
Wishing i was at AC, but it wasnt in the cards. Too many cons not in the cards but thats life. Gotta get our shit back together first. and in the meantime i got my dolls, my art, my hubby and my family and i cant really complain.
